Thank you for purchasing DilaSoft for Windows 32 bit software! To install the software, run the 'setup.exe' program on the install CD and follow the instructions. We highly recommend that the software be installed into the default directory of 'c:\tw32\' for compatibility and future trouble shooting if needed. This directory is _not_ the same as used by our 16 bit software and both versions can reside on the same computer for users upgrading to the 32 bit version. This release of DilaSoft for Windows is a full 32 bit software product and will run on any system using Windows 95/98 or Windows NT. It has been fully tested on Windows 98 and Windows NT release 4, service pack 3. If you have any questions about installing this product, or about using it after installation, you can view the online help file located in the root directory of the CD. Just double-click the "thetwain.hlp" file for the main menu. Installation, setup, troubleshooting and other issues are covered in the "Technical" section. Bearly Computing email: rich@bearlycomputing.com Phone: 716-229-2949 FAX: 716-229-4448 Note: A new feature of the 32 bit DilaSoft for Windows is the ability to automatically generate a trouble shooting report in case of software problems. To access this feature, run the main DilaSoft main menu program and look at the 'Help' menu. Here you will find an option titled "Create Problem Report". Click on this option for a new window that allows adding user comments to the report and an option to add a complete data file to the report. The entire report contains all the necessary files to recreate the users setup at another location, appended into a single file for easy transfer on floppy disk, email or even fax. The report is located in the directory set up under the Files-Directory Settings menu. Instructions are contained in the Problem Report window. Note: If you are installing DilaSoft for Windows in Windows NT, you MUST follow the instructions given below _IF_ your system is using an internal computer data acquisition card or valve control card. Installing the driver even if you do not use the internal card will not do any harm and may simply make the system ready for a future upgrade. Follow these directions only _after_ you have installed the software! =================================================================================== Running under Windows NT When running under Windows NT you must ensure that the file DLPORTIO.SYS is placed in the Winnt\system32\drivers directory and DLPORTIO.DLL is placed in the Winnt\system32 directory. Note that "Winnt" is the normal Windows NT root directory but may be different on other computers. The setup program should normally do this as part of the installation process. If the driver files need to be reinstalled at a later time, run the program "port95nt.exe" from the installation CD. The drivers must then be loaded before trying to read or write from the hardware port. Once the DLPORTIO.SYS driver has been installed it can be made to start automatically every time NT is started. To place the driver into this mode select the DEVICES icon from the Windows NT Control Panel. From the "Devices" dialog box scroll down the list to find dlportio and select it from the list, then click on the Startup button. The device Startup Type dialog box will then be shown. From the option buttons select Automatic. The driver will now automatically start each time that Windows NT is restarted. Driver Removal If after loading and running the driver you experience difficulties with other hardware, the above procedure may be followed and 'Disable' selected. If the driver is disabled, the software will no longer be able to communicate with the data acquisition card! Once the driver is disabled, the files may be removed from the system.
